Instructions

The Rice Seed Blanket is worked in closed round. That means you close every rnd with a slst into the first, or third initial ch stitch. Next, break the yarn and weave in the ends on then backside of the blanket.

Start a foundation chain of 4 ch from yarn A. Close chain to a ring with a slst into the first ch.

Rnd 01

ch 3, dc 2 into the ring, ch 3, [dc 3 into the ring, ch 3] 3x, slst to the 3rd ch of the beginning-ch3

Don't crochet into the top of the stitches, but work into the chain spaces under a ch-3 chain (ch3sp) between the dc-clusters from now on.

Rnd 02

Join yarn B into any ch3sp, ch 4, sc 1 into same ch3sp, ch 3, [°sc 1, ch 3, sc 1° into next ch3sp, ch 3] 3x, slst to 1st ch of the beginning-ch4.

Start the next round in one of the ch3-spaces in any corner of the square:

Rnd 03

Join yarn A into any ch3sp at a corner of the square, ch 3, °dc 2, ch 3, dc 3° into the same ch3sp, ch 1.

Into the ch3sp on the side: °dc 3°, ch 1,
into the ch3sp in the next corner:
°dc 3, ch 3, dc 3°, ch 1

Repeat the instructions alternately across all ch3-spaces all the way around the square. Close the rnd with a slst to the 3rd ch of the beginning-ch3.

Rnd 04

Join yarn B into any ch3sp in a corner of the square, ch 4, sc 1 into the same ch3sp, ch 3.

Into every chain space along the side: sc 1, ch 3,
into every ch3sp in a corner:
°sc 1, ch 3, sc 1°, ch 3.

Repeat the instructions alternately across all ch3-spaces all the way around the square. Close the rnd with a slst to the 1st ch of the beginning-ch4.

Rnd 05

Join yarn A into any ch3sp at a corner of the square, ch 3, °dc 2, ch 3, dc 3° into the same ch3sp, ch 1.

Into every ch3sp along the side: °dc 3°, ch 1,
into every ch3sp in a corner:
°dc 3, ch 2, dc 3°, ch 1

Repeat the instructions alternately across all ch3-spaces all the way around the square. Close the rnd with a slst to the 3rd ch of the beginning-ch3.

Repeat rnd 4 and rnd 5 alternately, until your blanket reached the desired size.

For the very last round, which is the border and a repitition of rnd 4, you change to yarn C (yellow), or any other color that you prefer to use as a conrasting color.
