This led them to the creation of their sustainably produced and vegan friendly yarn, Scheepjes Organicon. Made from 100% Soft Organic Cotton, this Fingering weight yarn is part of a global movement towards reducing resource consumption and conscious production methods.

Alongside the benefits of organic farming on water quality, land fertility and energy use, organic cotton is an exceptionally soft fibre that is delicate for you and your little one's skin. Being EN71-3 certified, Organicon can be used to knit or crochet garments, accessories, and home décor items that are safe for use by those with sensitive skin, in particular babies and children.

Scheepjes Organicon is available in 70 gorgeous shades, ranging from soft pastel colours to bright solid shades and neutrals – these tints make gorgeous colour combinations for a wide range of projects. Recommended needle/hook size is 3.00mm. Each ball weighs 50 grams and holds 170 metres of yarn (Fingering weight).

Scheepjes Organicon holds the GOTS certification which guarantees through traceability that the cotton has been grown on organic certified fields without the use of chemical fertilisers, farmed in a sustainable manner and in a way that ensures the continuing fertility of the land it is grown on.

The dyes used are also GOTS-certified and have the highest sustainability index possible for textile manufacture. Organicon also features Scheepjes’ new Recycled Water logo, meaning that during the production process of the yarn, wastewater from the production of this yarn is safely recycled and repurposed. And last but certainly not least, Organicon is also a vegan friendly yarn.
